Thought of the month

"God wispers through our pleasures, talks through our consciensce, shouts through our pain. It is his megaphone."

C. S. Lewis

Welcome to Oxford Adventist Church

Oxford Seventh-day Adventist ChurchA tourist visiting Oxford said to me the other day – did you know that Oxford has it all! I thought about this statement for a moment and found myself agreeing with the enthusiastic visitor. It is small wonder that Oxford is one of the world’s most well known cities. The City of Dreaming Spires is famous the world over for its place in history and for its University.  For over 800 years it has been a home to scholars and royalty, and since the 9th century it has been an established town, even though people are known to have lived in the district for thousands of years.

Oxford has now become a busy cosmopolitan town with a mix of ancient and modern. It is also the home of a growing hi-tech community. Many businesses are located in and around the city. There is plenty for both the visitor or the resident to do. Whether its visiting one of the many historic buildings, museums or colleges, going out for a meal, shopping, punting on the river Thames, or walking in a park, Oxford certainly has it all

And indeed so does our church in Chester Street. Founded in 1972 our church is one of the most international Adventist congregations in the UK. At our last International Day celebration we counted 35 different nationalities. Our dynamic and growing congregation will make you feel most welcome as you walk through the doors at Chester Street. Our weekly Sabbath (Saturday) services start at 9:45 am with Sabbath School and the Family Service begins at 11:15 am. Our many other and varied programmes, activities and services are as printed in the monthly bulletin.

We trust that you will truly enjoy your stay in Oxford - however short or however long, I believe Oxford will always have a place in your heart.

Blessings
